FSD Pathways: Alternative Provision for Years 1 - 11
Alternative Provision
Founded by former Leicester City footballers Matthew Piper and Owen Johnson; FSD Pathways is the Alternative Provision sister of leading BTEC sport further education college, FSD Academy.
FSD have recently expanded their Alternative Provision offering to include our 2022 provision expansion Primary Alternative Provision and the well-established and successful Secondary Alternative Provision. This enable students to discover a positive and powerful pathway from a younger age.
What is Alternative Provision?
Alternative Provision is a form of education, which takes place outside of mainstream education. It is usually arranged by local authorities or schools themselves, for young people who are experiencing difficulties in a mainstream educational setting.

Specialising in re-engaging young people
Specialising in re-engaging young people who have struggled to adapt to mainstream education, FSD Pathways provides an Alternative Provision programme which allows students to develop their self-esteem and confidence whilst nurturing respect, trust and progress.
All staff are positive role models who have the experience to support and progress students in three main areas:
- Sport
- Education
- Life & Social Skills
Schools and partnerships can choose any two, or all three of these areas, with students attending up to 2 and a half days per week per week. See FSD primary and FSD secondary for more detail.
Improved engagement, confidence, self-esteem and social skills
As well as increased academic success, one of the most noticeable differences we see in our Alternative Provision students is their engagement, confidence, self-esteem, and social skills. We believe this is down to our dedication to connecting with—and believing in—all individuals, regardless of their background, character, circumstances, or current ability. FSD Pathways provides a ‘family’ environment where politeness, respect and positive thinking lead our core values.
